Help! my brain is off and I can’t switch it back on!

Newbie employee arrives. Hi I am Devon Harding. I have my laptop and my screen and keyboard and mouse for when I am in the office, thank you for that! (Hmmm a polite newbie!) But I just need a docking station and a monitor stand.

I promise to order the equipment for him. A few days later the equipment arrives and I send it over to his office across town.

Next thing I get an email.

Kia ora Jared,
I have received some computer equipment including a Family monitor stand and an advanced port replicator. Can you please have someone from your team come set it up and show me how to use it?
Thanks
Devon Harding.

(Kia Ora is a Maori greeting in use by everyone in New Zealand) What!? You want me to show you how to use a monitor stand!!?? Seriously? Place stand on desk. Place monitor on stand. 2 steps! How hard can it be? Docking station: Plug in. Dock laptop. 2 steps! HOW HARD CAN IT BE?

This would only happen in the IT industry. Imagine me calling up a clothing store, “Yeah, Hi , I just bought a pair of pants can you come by and show me how to put them on?” or the supermarket, “Yeah hi, I just bought some bread from you can you come by my house and show me how to make a sandwich please?” Sounds stupid doesn’t it?

I mean I could understand if it was an OS installation or something but seriously a 2 step program? Luckily a colleague was headed over ther to sort out his desk phone phone I replied and asked Mr. Harding to ask my colleague while he was over there.
